Hispanics in America…

Hispanic Culture

Hispanics represent every color…

The definition of Hispanic or Latino Origin used in the U.S. Census:

“Hispanic or Latino” refers to a person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race.

This is significant because all levels of government need information on Hispanic origin and race to implement and evaluate programs, or enforce laws, such as the Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act, Fair Housing Act, Equal Employment Opportunity Act, and Redistricting Data Programs. However,

Racial classification issues continue to persist among those who identify as Hispanic, resulting in a substantial proportion of that population being categorized as Some Other Race. This weakens the ability of private and public groups to advocate for benefits for Hispanics.
